Her name is as beautiful as her person, but her love story is elegant. Jamilah bint Abdullah bin Ubay bin Salul. His father was a hypocritical kingpin, a much feared leader shortly before the Prophet's arrival in Medina. But all that changed when the Hijrah, the people more confused Muhammad Saw and considered him as the great leader in Medina. Historians mention that this was among the causes of his hatred and resistance to Islam, as he considered the presence of the Prophet as a trigger for the turning away of people from him and making him no longer honored. Although at that time he converted to Islam, but everything was just camouflage, because his heart was not sincere and honest in Islam. Contrary to his close family and children who really practice and hold fast to Islam. Even his son named Abdullah became close friends with the Prophet. So did Jamilah, who became our model woman for this edition.
Be very obedient in carrying out religious orders. This woman has converted to Islam and is’at. One beautiful day, a young man came to propose to her. He happily accepted the proposal. How could he refuse, even though the one who came to propose was Hanzhalah bin Amir, a pious Muslim and brave knight. After that they got married. It happened on the night before the battle of Uhud.
Night robes decorated with scattered stars that bring an atmosphere of peace and tranquility cradle the inhabitants of Medina in a beautiful dream. Actually it was just an ordinary night, yet it felt special to the newlyweds, Hanzhalah and Jamilah. Because that night was a historic night for them.
Hanzhalah knew that tomorrow there would be a great war in Uhud, so he asked the Prophet for permission to spend the night with his wife. While he himself does not know for sure whether that night was the night of the meeting or even the night of farewell. The Prophet gave him permission to stay and spend the night with his bride.
The beautiful night passed so quickly for the two of them, after the Shahuh Hanzhalah prayer returned to his wife's lap. Suddenly the silence of the morning was broken by the sound of people calling on men to jihad. The two brides were also shocked. At that time Hanzhalah had time to weigh between the pleasures of the world and the pleasures of the afterlife. With a strong determination and encouragement from his wife, he made a definite step into the battlefield, with a drawn sword, to meet the call of jihad and to leave the world and all its contents.
Let her husband off with mixed feelings, between pride and anxiety. Proud that the husband goes to war in defense of religion, anxious that the husband is wounded or may die at the hands of the enemy. Which woman will not be upset, he just lost his love, and now must release his beloved lover to fight against his life. Especially if she remembered her dream last night, when she saw the door of the sky open in front of Hanzhalah and when her husband entered the door was then closed again. From her dream Jamilah felt that her husband would be martyred. He is helpless because the call of jihad is obligated to be fulfilled. If it is destined, her husband is martyred then that is the best, what does this world mean when compared to the eternal afterlife?
When leaving for the battlefield, Hanzhalah was still in a state of junub, had not had time to bathe. When he reached the gathering place of the mujahideen he saw that the Prophet. When they were ready, they went to Mount Uhud to wait for the enemy to come.
Some soldiers remained steadfastly with the Prophet, including Hanzhalah, he continued to show and prove his love for Allah SWT . He came forward against Abu Sufyan bin Harb. When he was caught off guard he slashed Abu Sufyan's horse leg from behind, so Abu Sufyan fell, but at that moment Syaddad bin al-Aswad helped Abu Sufyan against Hanzhalah, then there was a one-on-two fight. Hanzhalah was pressed, until one of the two men managed to stab his spear into Hanzhalah's chest right into his heart. At that moment Hanzhalah collapsed. Hanzhalah was martyred because of the wound.
When the war was over the Companions began to search for the bodies of their martyred brothers. When they found Hanzhalah's body, Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ Says, “ When the Companions asked, Jamilah explained that her husband went to war in a junub.
Hearing the news about her husband, Jamilah could only cry and be patient in wishing God a reward. After that event Hanzhalah was titled as “ bathed Angel”. Every time we open a history book that tells us about the battle of Uhud, we will get the story of Hanzhalah, the newlywed who was willing to leave his contest in order to get martyrdom in the way of God.
After Hanzhalah was martyred, Allah predestined Jamilah to be pregnant, the fruit of their first and last night. Every time Jamilah saw her growing belly she always remembered her husband, looking sad and happy in the look of his face. Sad to remember the fate of his son who will be born without a father and happy because he contains the seeds of Hanzhalah. A few months later, a son was born, whom he named Abdullah. This Abdullah ibn Hanzhalah included the Prophet's companions ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ The little ones. His mother educated him so well that when he grew up Abdullah could become a warrior and be martyred, just like his father. Indeed, the dream of Jamilah bintu Ubay finally really materialized. Abdullah ibn Hanzhalah was martyred in the war (Harrah) in 63 AH.
After a long widow Jamilah finally married Tsabit ibn Qais, a spokesman for Anshar, and among the best companions of the Prophet. He went to war and sought worship with the Prophet, but he did not get it except during the time of Abu Bakr's reign. From that marriage, Jamilah gave birth to a son named Muhammad bin Tsabit. Muhammad bin Tsabit later also became martyred with his brother, Abdullah bin Hanzhalah.
Her last husband was Khubaib, the son of Yasaf. He was a friend of the Prophet who converted to Islam when he met the Prophet ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ when he was about to go to Badr, then he fought in Badr, and after that he always accompanied the Prophet in every war. Khubaib died during the caliphate of Uthman. Historians doubt whether Jamilah died before or after Khubaib. May Allah bless Jamilah bint Ubay, wife of two martyrs and mother of martyrs’. A woman who is steadfast in the bitter face of life. In love for him does not always have to end happily in the world, but in the hereafter he hopes to get true happiness. Wallahu a’lam
