The Legend of the Devil

The Legend of the Devil
Ch. 16 - Removing the Devil

"I've decided. My decision can't be challenged anymore."

Ziran Zhao raised his face and looked at the Nine Council which was mostly filled with elders. They were so shocked to hear the man's statement, did not even hesitate to put on a face denouncing.

"You know the risk, Your Majesty? It's going to be a big deal going forward"

"What was my previous sentence unclear? Should I go back?"

The white-bearded man sat back in his chair, shaking his head.

Ziran Zhao said, "I will not hesitate to get rid of the child from here."

*

Nervous, anxious and afraid.

The same cold sensation when Xue Zhan first met Ziran Zhao, it made no difference, he was still terrified to see that cruel face. Kang Jian lowered his head, immediately pushing Xue Zhan's neck to do the same.

"We're coming, Your Majesty. Sorry for the delay."

Ziran Zhao responded with a glare of sharp eyes. "You guys made me wait a long time. It's not tolerable."

While Kang Jian still replied calmly. "Allow me who receives sanctions. My student is innocent, I'm the one who's negligent about taking care of him."

A moment Ziran Zhao thought for a moment and finally understood the delay of the two because Xue Zhan took the Beginner Swordsman Exam even though he failed. And Kang Jian himself had a number of tasks that were very numerous.

Xue Zhan had briefly turned to his right and left, seeing dozens of sharp gazes being fixed towards him. In addition, in the entire room a strict escort is carried out. Xue Zhan could even still see the same person who almost beheaded him three days ago.

'What does it mean ... The emperor was going to kill me?' Coldly running down the neck, Xue Zhan's blood froze until his face now looked deathly pale.

In his silence Xue Zhan was unable to think positively anymore. Cold sweat dripped from his temple, Kang Jian also looked worried.

"Teacher .." whispered Xue Zhan without looking at him.

"You'll be fine, I'll protect you."

"Quite the contrary. If they want to kill me, please don't do anything. I don't want Master's name getting smeared for saving me."

Surprised, Kang Jian turned his head towards him. Both eyebrows are tied. "Don't say that."

"However Master's face also said what I was thinking."

Kang Jian was silent for a long time. Xue Zhan raised his face back when Kang Jian did. Taking a deep breath, he had just calmed himself back down depressed by Emperor Ziran's cynical gaze.

"Kang Jian, pull over. I want to talk to your new student."

Kang Jian stood on the edge, a little away from Xue Zhan.

Xue Zhan listened to Ziran Zhao's words, some of the things he explained made Xue Zhan many times cornered.

"Since your arrival to the center of the Empire, there have been many mysterious attacks that have killed dozens of innocent people, all of these are still under investigation. But judging from all sides, your presence is a threat. Either from yourself or something outside of you."

"The crucifixion that struck a few days ago involving the Red Taring is a grave threat to us. They were able to break through the defenses within the palace. It does not rule out the possibility of doing even worse things. And my grandson, Yin Jiao was one of the victims of the attack."

Xue Zhan looked down.

"I know you may not be able to accept all this, because you don't feel like you're doing anything evil. But I'll say roughly that the danger in you is ingrained and can never be separated."

It seems that it was all just wishful thinking.

"With that, after considering all aspects, I decided to get you out of here."

Justright.

Xue Zhan closed his eyes, the sentence felt extremely painful. Both of his hands clenched tightly and then slowly weakened, there was nothing he could argue with anymore.

"I ... I accept His Majesty's decision with great courage."

His lips felt heavy as he said so, Xue Zhan never expected that everything would end this quickly before he even started.

From the back, Xue Zhan listened to the footsteps of a warrior man with a sword in his hand.

The man was about to take his life in a moment, although knowing that Xue Zhan still did not dare to look back.

As the footsteps drew closer, the iron sound of his armor became the only sound in the place. Echoing a few seconds until finally the step stopped.

Xue Zhan had still closed his eyes for quite a while, he was goosebumps all over. It is possible that his head will immediately roll with a standing position like this. Either way, dying was still terrifying for Xue Zhan.

"Hey, what are you doing? I've been calling you."

Xue Zhan looked back. He was too focused on his conjecture to the point of not realizing it.

When he looked, he was the same man who almost beheaded him. But he was carrying a small red cloth.

"Emperor Ziran gave it to you."

Xue Zhan turned his head towards the man. Wondering.

"I didn't let you go immediately. With all consideration, I removed you from the Imperial threat list. You deserve credit for the rescue action you made against Kang Jian and Yin Jiao in the assault the other day."

Xue Zhan believed in disbelief.

"The cloth is to cover the horns on your head. That's a little unsightly. Then for you, Kang Jian," he said restrained. "You take full responsibility for this child, the mistake he made will be your fault. Let's keep it all right."

"Your Majesty is very kind still giving me a chance to live. I'll remember it and won't let you down, Your Majesty. Thank you very much." Xue Zhan wanted to thank the man a thousand times. At first glance, Ziran Zhao smiled faintly.

Although his face was the most ferocious there, Ziran Zhao was far more hearted than the Nine Council who wanted to get rid of Xue Zhan by killing him.

Next the man still conveyed a few things, especially to Kang Jian. They were whispering to each other, not a strange sight anymore. Indeed Emperor Ziran placed great trust in Kang Jian, and they often engaged in secret talks.

Both are allowed to leave the room.

Xue Zhan followed Kang Jian's steps towards the giant door. However Ziran Zhao's voice stopped them immediately.

"One more thing," Ziran Zhao said in a loud voice.

"In my name, you, Xue Zhan, are approved in the Beginner Swordsman Exam. That's all it is."

Xue Zhan froze in place, his eyes wide in disbelief. How could a person like Ziran Zhao who looked at him without compassion let him live and even to the point of passing him in the test.

Kang Jian smiled as he saw the reaction of Xue Zhan who was still staring at Ziran Zhao's chair which had left his throne.

"You have something in you, Zhan'er. As long as you're on the right path, I'm sure more people will trust you. Even Emperor Ziran."
