From his current position, Frans still faithfully observed the movement of Lula who was in trouble carrying luggage.
“What don't-don't grandpa Ken get sick again?” Frans kept wondering, and got no answer from anyone. He started looking for a parking space when he saw Lula entering the Ramones Hospital building.
Frans took a quick step, chasing after Lula who had already darted away. However, the girl had already disappeared to nowhere. Frans tried to circulate the view still he did not find the whereabouts of his wife.
“Excuse me, Ma'am. Is Mr Ken Adhitama treated at this hospital?” frans asked, trying to stop a nurse who was about to pass him.
“Pak Ken?" The woman seemed to think hard. "Oh, Mr. Ken Adhitama .. He has no hospitalization, sir! And apparently, yesterday was the final control schedule" the woman explained after understanding Frans.
“Oh, means know dong that Lula passed through here? I saw him running into the building. May you know what happened?” Frans tried to urge the woman to explain to him.
"Mbak Lula's son Dr Rainer?!"
Yeah, right, she ... my wife! Frans wanted to say that. But something's in his way. He did not want to rashly acknowledge Lula as his wife. Of course later will complicate Lula's position. "Yes, Qailula Suha Damanik. You know?!"
The woman's lips were open, about to answer Frans's question. However, it came to a halt when it saw a woman standing behind Frans' back.
“Mbak! Lula was in school uniform. Must be familiar, right? He's a big family Ramones.” Frans does not want to despair before finding Lula's whereabouts.
“Em, I don't see, Sir!” answer the woman.
Frans knows the woman is lying, she intends to see Rainer, who knows her best friend has arrived at the hospital. When Frans turned his body, his gaze actually met with the nurse who was driving the motor.
Frans decided to ask for an explanation. “You must know where Lula is, right?” ask Frans. Suddenly his emotions increased, when he saw the innocent face of the nurse in front of him. The woman older than Lula looked innocent, but her behavior was beyond expectations because she dared to make Lula skip! And more regrettably, his wife was willing to be invited to this place, leaving hours of study. “She where?”
“Maybe in ICU room, Sir!” answer the woman, lirih.
Frans' nerves stiffened immediately. Think hard about who is sick right now. “Show where his ICU room is!” the door without further ado.
“The father is straight only, then turn right!”
Panicking her panic, Frans forgot to thank the nurse. He ran quickly towards the ICU room, wanting to be next to Lula, surely the girl was confused.
Frans could not imagine how sad the girl was right now. All Lula could do was cry in silence. Trying to look good in front of a loved one. Was Rainer there too, why didn't he tell? fuck that guy?! annoyed Frans, grumbled as he stepped closer to the ICU room.
Just as his steps arrived at the ICU room, the glass door was pulled from inside the room. Frans saw Lula bowed softly, walking straight past him. Lula was unaware of his existence. The girl cried without a sound, her tears flooded, soaking her soft cheeks.
“Lula ... hi?” Frans felt awkward, he greeted, trying to attract Lula's attention. "Lula, is there a problem?"
Now Lula only realized after the second greeting from Frans. Their gaze met, Lula's wet eyes emitting a look of sadness capable of piercing the recesses of Frans' heart.
“There's Daddy here?!” frans said softly, as he buried Lula's head in front of his chest. Let Lula's cry break. He was willing to get his shirt wet as long as he could make his wife calm.
“All will be fine. Relax!” that was all Frans could say, he tried to comfort despite not knowing what made his wife cry like this. "We sit down first, Daddy's story!" the word Frans leads Lula to a waiting chair that happens to be uninhabited.
Lula who could not think clearly could only follow her husband's advice. He took a seat in front of the ICU room, waiting for the patient's family to meet him.
“Te—my friend, Dad. My little friend is gone, Dad! He's gone! God loves him more." Lula took a deep breath, trying to loosen her chest that felt squeezed by a heavy burden. "I should have received a call last night to Dyah. He said, Sofya keeps looking for me! Sofya is waiting for me to bring the canvas, the canvas I gave her is full all.” Lula wiped her tears. Her nerves were already sore, but her cries were reluctant to stop. He regretted the voice call from the ignored Mr. Dyah. “I'm late, Dad! a—aku ... couldn't see her again, she left fifteen minutes ago. Doctor says he's dead!”
Frans clenched Lula's body. He honestly did not understand Lula's explanation. Just as he was about to ask more details, there was the sound of the ICU room door opening wide. Both of them turned towards the door.
Until a middle-aged woman came out of the room. The woman approached the bench that Lula occupied. Smile with eyes that look wet.
“From Sofya, Dik." The woman handed Lula a tape recorder. But, Lula still let the thing hang. Feeling unworthy to receive anything from Sofya.
Lula has not known Sofya for long. But, the cost of Sofya's treatment at Ramones Hospital is also quite a lot. In fact, Frans' money was not left to other patients. He immediately sent it to the hospital account and gave the evidence to Mbak Wulan.
"These few days, Sofya was agitated because Dik Lula had not come to see her. He was actually worried about Dik Lula's condition, thought Lula was sick.” The woman begins to tell how Sofya awaits Lula's presence.
In fact, it's only been a few days that Lula hasn't come to the hospital. It was because he was busy with his private teacher. And his plan today was to meet Sofya, handing over a new canvas to the girl.
But destiny says something else. God loved Sofya more, because he did not want the girl to endure the pain any longer.
"Sorry Lula hasn't seen Sofya yet, Mom. Iaw—
"Already, Brother! thats okay! Please forgive Sofya's mistake. Mother asked her prayers for mother's daughter to make the path easier."
Lula nodded, while holding back her struggling cry for an explosion.
“Receive this. As a thank you from Sofya!” The woman grabs Lula's hand, asking Lula to accept the tape recorder her daughter had left. "We owe a lot to Dik Lula. I don't know what to reply in what way. But I will pray for Dik Lula's happiness. Let the hand of God repay your kindness."
Lula nodded, clasping tightly onto the tape recorder. In his heart he answered the woman's prayer. Frans is still confused. It looks like he's contracted Lula's congenital tellymial virus.
“Mum can be very stoic, accept all this.”
“Iya, Dik's. This way Sofya won't be sick anymore. I can't bear to hear the pain rin-tih.” The woman patted Lula on the back.
Lula nodded weakly.
“Please excuse me, son. God willing we will bury Sofya at 4 pm.”
Lula nodded again. "I'll come to deliver my friend, Buk."
"Thank you, if you'll excuse me."
He saw the woman go out from before them. Frans grabbed the tape record from Lula's hand. His hands could not wait to press the play button.
