Not the Perfect Wife
304. S2 - What can it be?

"Sorry, Mas. I can't force my daughter. It seems like he has not been able to accept your presence," Nur said.

"It's okay, but can I talk to him? Even if only from the front door?" ask Hamdan.

"Please, but don't force it. There was enough sadness that he had been feeling all along. I agreed to come here so that he would be happy" Nur said without seeing his interlocutor.

Hamdan just nodded. He went to see the princess. While in the living room leaving Nur with Merry. The atmosphere suddenly felt stiff, both of them did not know what to say.

"In the meantime, I'll get you a drink first" said Nur who immediately went into the kitchen and made two glasses of tea.

Merry just kept silent while staring at the back of the woman from her husband's past, until lost behind the wall. He sighed, in order to neutralize his discomfort.

"Please drink, Ma'am," said Nur after putting the glass.

"Yes, thank you." Merry drank it in honor of the host.

Silence .. neither of them spoke. Until Merry ventured to open her mouth.

"Why aren't you married?"

Nur was surprised to hear a question from Merry, but he tried to look ordinary. The woman understood, must be the wife of Hamdan is worried if she seduces and snatches her husband.

"No intention there. I just want to raise my son and give him affection, that's all."

Merry was still staring at the woman in front of him intently. He wanted to know what Nur was really like. Is that woman really good? Or just pretend to be good?

"I know you must still expect Mas Hamdan to come back to you, right?"

"On what basis, I want him back? Just imagine it, I never. You can say I'm a hypocrite, but you need to know that hardship and pain have taught me to understand togetherness and trust."

"I hope your words can be trusted."

"Of course, if necessary also forbid your husband to come here. His arrival only made my daughter cry."

Actually Nur did not intend to keep away the child and father, but heard Merry's words, as if she was a lowly woman who liked to seduce and snatch people's husbands. Never mind to seduce, just talk she's lazy.

Merry did not speak, especially when he heard the sound of shoes. The woman was sure it was her husband because there was no other man in this house. It turned out to be true, Hamdan came down with a disheveled face. Merry tried to smile.

"Have, Mom?" ask Merry

Hamdan shook his head and sighed heavily. Of course the answer from the man can be understood by the two women who had been waiting for him. Merry rubbed the husband's shoulder so as not to feel down.

"Then, what now, Mom?" ask Merry.

"We'll just go home, come here again tomorrow."

"I'm sorry, but you better not be here every day. I don't want to hear any rumors about my family. Especially if there is a past between us. I hope you understand" Nur said.

"I'm sorry, I just wanted to apologize to my daughter. I appreciate your decision, but I will stay here every once in a while until Laily forgives me and we can meet outside. We'll excuse you, assalamualaikum," said Hamdan, who soon moved in with his wife.

"Waalaikumsalam" murmured Nur.

*****

Nur recounted the incident this morning to Khairi, but the woman did not speak to Merry. Nur fears the son of a dilemma between him and his mother.

"What, Mom, you know what you told Laily?" ask Khairi.

"No, I'm waiting in the living room with your mom. I think your dad needs privacy to talk to your sister, too."

"Let me talk to Laily for a minute." Khairi passed towards his sister's room.

Afrin and the in-laws sit in the living room. Nur cursed himself. He was supposed to be following Hamdan. Like this, the woman feels guilty for not knowing anything.

While on the second floor, Khairi tried to knock on the door of his sister's room. Twice, the door opened. The look of Laily's face that is soft and puffy, makes the man not bear.

"Can, Brother, come in?" ask Khairi with a smile.

Laily just nodded and widened the door. Khairi came in and sat down on the edge of the bed, followed by the girl who was sitting a little far away. The man cursed him because until this moment Laily did not want to be touched by him.

"Why don't you take a walk? You agree!" khairi asked with a look at her sister.

"I'm lazy again, brother," replied Laily as he was.

"If you feel uncomfortable with what's around you, tell me. I'm taking you to the city so you're happy and comfortable, but if you're depressed here, I'm gonna feel so guilty. I want you and mom to be happy here so, whatever you feel, say it!"

Suddenly Laily cried, of course it made Khairi confused. He doesn't know what to do. The man wanted to hug his sister, but was afraid that the girl would get angry.

Eventually, Khairi was forced to buy his sister. It's up to him to get angry later, as long as it's calm now. Unexpectedly Laily returned her brother's embrace making the man surprised and happy. Long enough sobs rang out in the room, until Laily wiped his tears.

"Sorry, Brother. Big Brother's clothes are wet" Laily said as he looked towards Khairi's wet clothes.

"It's okay, it can be washed. Brother is glad you want to hug Brother," said Khairi made Laily smile.

"Sister, right, my brother."

Khairi smiled at him too. That means Laily has already accepted it. The man was moved to make his eyes glaze over. It is not expected to be this easy if you do it sincerely.

"You want to tell the same brother?"

Silence ... no answer.

"If you don't like your father's arrival here, you'll ask him not to come again, but don't stop him from trying to get his daughter's heart back on the outside. He already feels so guilty. This will definitely feel unfair to you, but only one of my wishes. We can live together side by side. Even though mom and dad can't be together."

Laily looked at her brother who had high hopes. The girl also did not want to hold a grudge. However, every time he saw the middle-aged man, all the pain returned. Maybe it was true what his mother said. He must be sincere.

'Is there any way I can be sincere? Just looking at it made me want to be angry, Laily said.
