She's only known Amanda and Shane for three days. But they have shown a good attitude and accepted it unconditionally. Not only the two of them, but also their entire extended family. No one turned a blind eye to his and Miles' past mistakes, but no one cornered him or judged him. They opened their arms wide and greeted him kindly.
They were different from Ratri who had known him since he was born. Ever since they met again, her brother had constantly insulted and hurt her whenever the opportunity arose. He did it again at the dinner when all the guests were ready to go home. Maybe he's upset that Miles just turned down his offer.
All this time, he was just jealous. Butwhy? Why should he be jealous of her, his own sister? She has everything, husband, children, in-laws, as well as her ever-fulfilled needs. Kirana only has William and Miles. And Ratri still wants to snatch Miles from him? What's missing for Brian? Could Miles' accusation be true? Brian cheated on his own wife?
Brian is a good guy. It was hard to believe that he could do something as bad as cheating. They both love each other and are perfect for each other. If cheating was true, how unfortunate his brother was. But it's their household business, he won't interfere. Miles's right. If she had time to take care of other people's affairs, Ratri should have focused all her attention on her own marriage matters.
Life has been so good to Kirana at the moment. She no longer had to worry because she was no longer alone. Miles would never leave her for another woman. Amanda and Shane will always be there for her. He was no longer a disgrace once he got a second chance at a better life. No one would be able to take that away from her, not even her own brother. Yes, nothing will make him suffer anymore. He'll take care of Miles, William, Shane, Amanda, Trevor and Charlotte as much as he can. Just as they had been guarding him all this time.
“No, no. No cry. Alastair can be angry if he finds out.” Shane said in a panic.
“He wouldn't dare scold you, Shane.” Kirana laughed a little.
“If this is about you, he always gets the courage that out of nowhere comes.” Shane's face paled. Yeah, he's right. Miles will get angry when he finds out someone hurt him, no matter who he is.
“I'll call Rowan.” Amanda stood up and walked towards the door.
Slightly panicked as her tears could not stop flowing, Kirana could finally take a deep breath to calm herself down. Rowan was with them in the car. Ready anytime Kirana needs it. Shane and Amanda's phones didn't stop shaking. All those calls are from Miles. They're ten minutes late. The man must have panicked because they hadn't come yet either. They deliberately did not answer the incoming call from him because he liked to make him panic on his wedding day.
As soon as the car stopped, Shane immediately brought Kirana closer to the entrance of the church. Trevor had been waiting patiently for him there. The man smiled and raised his left arm. Kirana hooked her hand to the curve of the man's arm. Her other hand held her bouquet. Amanda helped lower her veil to cover her face. After she kisses and hugs Kirana for the last time, Kirana is ready to go to her groom.
Trevor rubbed his hands to calm him down. Kirana took a deep breath back and looked towards the man waiting for her at the altar. He took a surprised breath. Miles wore a black tuxedo, black trousers, a white shirt and vest with a dark gray tie and a matching handkerchief peeked in his left breast pocket. He looks taller and handsome. Her face looked irritated, understandable, but the closer Kirana approached her smile grew more and more fluffy.
Among the guests, Kirana saw the Miles family who came at the dinner show smiling at her. Brian and his family were also present. His brother-in-law and two nephews smiled at him. The Ratri that Kirana thought would not come to her wedding was also there. But he did not smile or look at her. Kirana did not mind because her behavior would not ruin her happiness.
Trevor stopped near the foot of the altar and kissed her cheek. Miles extended his hand. His grandfather handed Kirana's hand to him. They stood side by side in front of the priest. And the blessing event began. Kirana's heart was pounding rapidly as her time to recite the pledge arrived. They were asked to stand facing each other. Nervously, Miles took out his note from the inner pocket of the suit and took a deep breath.
“I always thought that I had everything. And so is love. But when I met you, I began to question what I believed. You taught me what it means to fight, to show me how to love without hurting, to teach me how to be honest, to show me how to make amends. And you have proven to me that true love exists.” Miles smiled. “I want to learn more new things with you, Kirana. I promise I will be faithful to you, stand up for you, look after, love, and raise our children together, until death do us part
Miles' smile expanded as he ended his pledge. Kirana just looked at him. He did not need his notes because he only wanted to look towards those bright blue eyes he loved as he uttered his vows.
“I don't always get what I want in life. Disappointment is my best friend. Even when you look me in the eye and say that you love me, I am not that easy to believe. I've long since stopped dreaming, Miles.” Kirana could hear her voice trembling, she could not help it.
“But with you, I want to dream again. I stand here before the Lord and His people pledge allegiance to you. Under no circumstances do I promise to stay by your side. I will never make you suffer. Just your smile and laughter I want to see all the time. With all my heart, I will lighten your burdens, embrace you when you are sad, and laugh in your happy moments. Loving you will be an opportunity I will never miss. Until death do us part.”
Kirana used the tissue in her hand to wipe away the tears on Miles' cheek. He must have remembered where that sentence had been heard. They had dinner at the restaurant on the roof of Marina Bay Sands. The next thing is easier. They put wedding rings on each other and the pastor announced that they were legal to be husband and wife.
Miles lifted the veil that covered his face. Her lips moved in a sentence expressing love and then kissed her gently as her hands wrapped around her waist. Guests cheered and applauded to see it. Kirana closed her eyes and enjoyed the incredible moment. She is a wife. Specifically, she is Miles' wife. Something he only dared to dream about has now come true. Mrs Miles Alastair Bradford.
