388. Midnight Drama

Two bullets lodged in Nadine's left thigh, so the woman collapsed to the floor. The sharp object he was holding was instantly detached from his hand. He grimaced with pain, face down on the floor of the room, unable to do anything. The shooter was Stella. The woman immediately took the gun from Dimas' hand, after Tadi had handed the gun to the police..This time he really could not hold back his emotions. It's just, he still doesn't want to be a killer. He just spewed a bullet into Nadine's left thigh.

Ammar did not want anything to happen to Mariah, and he promised to accompany her, under any circumstances. He still remembered when his leg was severely injured in the events in the previous castle, Mariah faithfully accompanied, even encouraging until he could walk again.

"The nightmare is over" whispered Ammar, holding Mariah's hand.

"Has Nadine been arrested?"

Ammar nodded, then continued speaking, "Yes, Nadine has accepted what she should have received. I've met Dimas, and he's told me all the chronologies of the events so vividly. This is a terrible case, when a close friend turns into a monster without us noticing. Now you can rest comfortably, and tomorrow morning we can leave the castle quietly."

Mariah remained silent. In his heart he felt relieved because in the end, all of Nadine's crimes had been exposed. He tried to calm himself for now. The events in that basement always left her feeling a deep trauma.Dimicious shadows haunt her everywhere. He could see mysterious spirits wandering along the corridors of the castle, even screaming underground.

"You sure?" ask Ammar.

Mariah nodded. He no longer wanted to see repeated bad events in this old castle of his uncle's heritage. Ammar just sighed, unable to intervene anything, because he had no right. In full, the castle belonged to his wife, so he could only support Mariah's decision.

In another part of the castle, precisely in the side yard planted with many ornamental plants, In the dark of the very late night, Ryan seemed restless waiting for someone. He deliberately chose a rather hidden place, behind a grove of flowers with purple petals. The parasite looks agitated. He was still inexhaustible, why would Nadine do evil things to him? Though all this time he knew that Nadine was the perpetrator of all the chaos in the castle, only he chose to be silent because of his blind love for his wife.

A soft voice greeted. Ryan turned his gaze to the voice of a young lady in glasses, who suddenly appeared from behind a swarm of wildflowers.

"I've been waiting for you" said Ryan.

"I'm sorry for what happened to Nadine. Quite unfortunate. We knew him all along, he was a good friend, but it was unexpected that he had such a dark side. May his death bring peace."

The glasses young lady was none other than Maya who had secretly met Ryan in the side yard. Ryan accidentally invites Maya to meet in the lonely castle's side yard. There is something very important that Ryan wants to say.

"He's not dead yet .." murmured Ryan.

"You mean ... Nadine's alive?" ask Maya curious.

"Yes, he's alive, but it probably won't be long. A gunshot wound to his leg may rot and cause an infection. Millions of bacteria would be lodged in his wound, and it would kill him slowly. I don't have the heart, Maya. I can't bear to. You know I love her so much" Ryan said in a trembling voice.

Maya just nodded slowly. Actually he wanted to hug Ryan right then and there, but maybe it was not worth it, given Ryan's grieving condition. Although he had deep feelings for the man, he tried to control himself.

"So what are you going to do next?" ask Maya later.

"That's why I asked you to meet me tonight. I ask that you forget me immediately. I don't want you to expect more from me, especially after Nadine finds out that your pregnancy is fake. I'm sorry Maya, don't expect anything. After this I might not be willing to meet you or maybe with any woman. I need some time alone. I will leave this city for a long time to forget all the trauma that has happened" Ryan said.

"Where are you going, Ryan?" asked Maya with a hoarse voice.

"You know what, I'm a wedding singer? A cousin of mine in Canberra, Australia asked me to come there at her wedding next month. Maybe I'll be there a long time. I'm sorry, Maya. This might be the best. We can't be together. What I've done with you is the biggest mistake of my life" whispered Ryan.

Maya just silently held back the tears. He can't say anything. Right now his feelings are mixed. He doesn't know what to do. However, as strong as Maya stemmed the feeling of sadness, tears still poured down. He felt crushed, as crushed as the smallest pieces.

"I have to go Maya. Take good care of yourself" Ryan said as he stepped out to leave Maya.

"Ryan .. I want to tell you one thing" Maya whispered.

"What do you want to say again, Maya?"

"You are the worst dog4n the world has ever seen. That's all Ryan. Now you can go and leave me!" Maya begins to be overcome with emotions, with tears on her cheeks.

Ryan just nodded. He can accept as bad as Maya says to him, because he does feel guilty. However, the decision is unanimous. He leaves Maya in the darkness of the night, stepping towards the castle, hoping for a quick morning. He wanted to leave this old castle as soon as possible.
