THE TRUTH MANSION'S

THE TRUTH MANSION'S
Chapter 7's

Houses abandoned by the natives were immediately demolished. Surprisingly, the construction of the Saha Mansion continued to experience delays. Meanwhile, the people who could not become Citizens, but also did not want to leave this place, started hiding in the Saha Mansion. Announcement boards about development schedules continue to be replaced with postponed dates. Once, the people living in the Mansion started to let go of the announcement. The new notice board was hung again, but it was also removed. Then they put up an alert that forbade the notice board from being removed, but the warning was removed as well. The invisible feud happened repeatedly. And, amazingly, one day, they no longer put up a new notice board.

Water and gas supplies to each house were cut off, but taps in the front yard of the building still drained water when the taps were turned. The drain works well. Thanks to rooftop-mounted solar panels, they still have electricity supplies. There were occasional power outages throughout the building, but no one complained. No police or government officials came to the Mansion. The residents of the Mansion can work around there, for example in construction sites, warehouses, and other dirty and dangerous places. They can connect life. People who at first thought they were just hiding for a little while there started to put in a little bit of furniture and electronics. The stoves were modified and connected to LPG gas cylinders, hooks were installed on the inside of the door, and a new padlock was installed on the outside of the door. More and more windows are shining at night.

The residents of the Saha Mansion nodded in greeting to each other, like neighbors, like people who live in ordinary apartment buildings. They also rubbed the heads of the children they knew and asked the children what unit they lived in, whether the electricity in their unit was smooth, and whether there was a smell of gas in their unit. People gossip about which side gets the most sunlight, what floor is uninhabited and feels creepy, also about Anu's family who have moved units three times. Then, according to someone's proposal, an official resident association was formed. Of course, the organizing committee was formed and a representative of the residents was chosen. Each unit pays a fee to hire a building supervisor in charge of repairing damaged facilities. And forty years passed by.

There was a pair of rubber gloves hanging on the iron bars of the 1st floor of Building A. The gloves belonged to Grandma Konnim. Grandma often hung items such as rubber gloves, scarves, and washcloths on the crossbar. Old men building supervisors and people who live on the 1st floor occasionally also hang wet suits, shoes, and umbrellas there.

The Saha Mansion consists of two buildings. Building A is inverted L-shaped, with fourteen units on each floor—seven units on each side, respectively, and B— Building with seven units per floor— that is built parallel to one side of Building A. So, the complex as a whole forms an inverted U. The empty field between the two sides of the building facing is quite spacious, but comfortable. The Mansion people called the field the front yard. On the front page there is a small playground, parking lot, and public water taps. There was also a patch of gardens taken care of by Grandma Konnim. There were no children playing in the place because the tools were rusty and hollow as if gnawed by insects. Parking lots are always empty, because people who can drive don't have cars. The only part of the front yard that can be utilized is the garden.
