Chapter 3: Meeting With an Ex

Silence surrounds Sherly and Rey. Both of them were silent in silence. Not a word came out of Sherly's lips nor the man's. For more than 10 minutes, the two sat together. Until one of them both opens his voice.

"How are you, Rey?"

Rey lifted her face and looked at the woman in front of her who was also looking at her. "As you can see, I'm very kind. Then what about you?"

"I'm good too, maybe. When did you arrive in Jakarta? I thought you were still in China?"

"A few days ago. I came back here because there's a project I have to complete in this town." Obviously Rey.

Rey was Sherly's ex-boyfriend when she was in college. They part ways when Rey decides to return to her home country of 'China' Sherly can't prevent much less keep the man from leaving. And that's what makes their love run aground.

One year after her breakup with Rey, Sherly meets Bima. They fell in love and eventually decided to get married. But unfortunately their marriage is now on edge because of the third person in their household.

"Sorry, Sherly. When you get married I can't attend. I'm glad you finally found the right man for you,"

Sherly just smiled wryly hearing what Rey said. 'Finding the right person' feels like it's just a joke, because her husband isn't the kind of nice guy Rey thinks he is.

"Then what about you? Are you married and have children? How many kids do you have? One, two, three or maybe four."

Rey chuckles amusedly. "My son is still one, and it's Bubu!!" He answered and made Sherly's face change instantly.

"Bas with you!! I asked seriously and you were kidding." The woman bent her face.

"I'm serious too. I am not married, let alone have children. What if I say I'm still waiting for you?"

"Basic silly!!"

Both are laughing. Rey continued to stare at Sherly with a hard-to-explain look. All the memories with the woman suddenly swirled back in his head. And Sherly remains as beautiful as Rey was born to remember.

"Sherly, sorry I have to go now. I have a meeting in 30 minutes. Can we exchange contacts?"

"My number is the same. You can call me at that number. Em, that's also if you still keep it."

"I still keep it." Rey answered quickly.

Sherly nodded. "All right, then I'll go first. Rey, see you soon." Sherly got up from her seat and just left. Leaving Rey who still did not move even a little from where she stood.

Rey smiled faintly, after paying for all her orders and Sherly, she left the cafe.

"Where have you been? Going all day, not preparing lunch, not cleaning the house. Look, all my clothes and Sasa's not washed yet. You useless son-in-law!!"

Sherly stopped her steps and stared cynically at her Mother-in-law and sister-in-law. The woman looked at her hands while staring at the two in turn.

"You're not a disabled person, so all the housework should be me doing it. If you want to be served like a queen, then just find a maid!!"

PLAKKIS...

Sherly held back the hand of Mirah who was about to slap her. "Get your hands together, Mother-in-law, if you don't want me to break them!!" Sherly warned.

"You...!!!" The wrath of Mirah restrained.

Ting...

A message came in Sherly's phone. Bima sent him a message, in that short message he asked him to cook because Bima said there would be guests tonight. But Sherly did not care, it was Bima's guest, not her guest, so why should she bother cooking?!

Sherly was surprised when the bag she held in her left hand was suddenly snatched by Sasa. Both of Sasa's eyes widened to see what was in the paper bag.

"Where did you get this kind of money to buy this fancy jewelry and clothes?"

"Sherley!!" Shouts Sasa emotions. "Mom, you saw that woman. The more day his behavior just gets annoying. Why would a stupid and innocent person like him be able to turn out to be so terrifying?!"

"Don't that's his true nature. We have to report to Bima if his wife likes to spend money and his job is just to spend money."

"Mother's right. And I'd better call Bima soon, ask her who the guests are coming to our house tonight. If it is indeed an important guest, we should prepare the best banquet."

"Mom understands. Mom will ask him later. Go to the back and wash all the dirty clothes. I'm gonna take a nap, mom's head feels like it's gonna break."

"Yeah!! Why would I even have to wash all that dirty clothes. Mom, don't go you have to help me!!" Shouted Sasa but ignored by Mirah.

Sasa growled in anger. Why would he be the one to wash those mountain clothes?! He just painted his nails. Sherly's supposed to be the one doing everything, not her.

"You all suck. Sherly, look out for you!! I will definitely repay you!!"

Bima approached Pomegranate who was preparing to go home. They just finished their work. It just so happened that today was not gentle, that was why they were able to go home early.

Pomegranate smiled at Bima who was also smiling at her. "Are you ready?" Pomegranate nodded. "Come, Mother and Sister Sasa are waiting for you, they can't wait to see you soon."

"But what about your wife? What if he's mad to see me come there?"

"You take it easy, let me talk to him. Come on, we're afraid we're even caught in the rain. Looks like the sky is a bit cloudy."

Pomegranate nodded. He and Bima then walked together to leave the office where they worked. Both of them walked towards the parking lot. "Yes, Bim. We stopped by the bakery first. I want to give a gift to your mother and sister."

"You don't have to bother. Don't bring anything, they're glad you came."

"It's okay. Just a cake, not something expensive."

"All right, it's up to you."

After a 45-minute drive, they arrived at Bima's house. The arrival of Pomegranate was immediately welcomed by Mother and sister Bima. They were so kind and friendly to Pomegranate, so different to Sherly.

Bima went to the dinner table and found some dishes there. But he knew it wasn't Sherly's cooking, it was food bought from the outside. Bima goes to see his wife and finds Sherly trying on her new ring.

"Where did you get that kind of money to buy a diamond ring like this?!"

Sherly got up from her seat and snatched the ring from Bima. "Of course the money you gave me. Wh why? Is there a prohibition on a wife using her husband's money?"

"Why are you so extravagant? You should have been more frugal. And I'm asking you to cook, but why is it that outside even restaurant cuisine?!"

"Why should I be busy and bother preparing food for your guests?! Why don't you ask your mother or sister to prepare it?! I'm not a maid in this house, Bima. But why do you always treat me like a maid?!"

"I'm lazy to argue with you, you better prepare a drink for our guests. And be nice to her, don't throw a tantrum!!"

Brakk ..

Sherly smiled cynically. It feels like he really wants to cut off Bima's head. Her husband is getting too far. And tonight he invited and brought home a woman. If Bima can do it, why can't she?!

"Rey, come to my house tonight. I invited you to dinner. I'll send you the address immediately!!"

Sherly disconnects her phone just like that. A printed grin adorned her beautiful face. "My dear husband, the real game has just begun!!"
