"It's sometimes a blessing behind curses. Everyone thought I had an easy life. High-ranking father, my mother was a successful businessman. But the high standards they set make all their children feel like they're missing something from their lives."
That's an honest confession. It seems that everyone has their own difficulties in the time when they have not found their own way.
"A tough character cannot be made from easy circumstances, Sir said."
"Yes, there's always a story behind it." He said it with a smile. Like I might she's made peace with her past.
"Later there is always a time when we can look from afar and smile if we don't break. Like now. Well alive, I've always been grateful I entered military service lately sir..."
"You can just call Gilbert, we're not in a formal situation." A tempting offer, I asked her if this was one of the ways to get close to women. Start with the non-formal.
"Not in a formal situation..."
"There's something wrong with that. You're free to talk."
"Ohh I often see you in non-formal situations in Kissimme." She laughs.
"That's, ..." He laughed for a moment before answering me. "....as a tactical command team, you have to focus, forcing your brain to be at 100% when assessing the situation on the command screen. I used dinner, um.the girls' talk as a distraction, forcing my brain to rest before I thought again. Only I'm a lot on the stamp of using people because of that. Plus on the cap playboy... Only people who know me know what I'm doing."
"Ahh.. as it is today."
"You can't count on it, because you're too serious. Your brain runs with the worst prejudice on a stranger who suddenly invites you to talk and analyze it in every word, I'm forced to talk seriously and think in front of you." I grimaced and she laughed.
"I don't mean to say you're boring. Everyone has their own character. No one is the same. So don't taste me bad first Miss Jen."
"I seem to be good at analyzing Sir's people."
"I have to learn to deal with a lot of people. Studying human psychology is very necessary." Now I'd think he's too hard to deal with because of this. "Now you're suspecting me. I'm not difficult, I don't have any bad intentions especially, unless we're enemies obviously I'm going to make things difficult for you. I don't intend to make enemies with people I just met at dinner, let alone someone who helped me, a co-worker. I'm just showing off a little." He laughed again. This game seems fun to him.
"You showing off? Why show me off?"
"You are indeed complicated sir." She laughs.
"Friends okay. Thanks for helping me a lot."
"Yes you are indeed Sir's co-worker." I'm setting boundaries now. He's too complicated to be a "friend".
"I was that bad in your eyes. Let's just say I'm a storymate, you've helped a lot. If there's a problem, don't call me Jen."
"I hope I didn't trouble you with any problems sir. Thank you." Thank you."
"Well, I did mess up your dinner this time. Next time I won't try to confuse you again." I smile.
"It would be nice to make you laugh if so sir."
"I'm serious if you need anything just talk to me okay. I'm leaving first, I'm here for a long time I'm gonna mess up your break." He looked at the food serving area. "Ludo, do I still have a stash?" Save what he meant.
"There's a sir."
"May I have two glasses."
"Sir, please." Before long the head chef came up with two glasses of red wine. Turns out he had a stash of wine.
"Repeated." He gave me his glass.
"Repeated." I smiled this time, following her clinked at our glasses. Wine like this never appeared in any cafeteria. I sipped it following his drinking style
"Rest, sorry to mess up your dinner. Good night Jen."
"Night Sir."
He left, I saw the shadow of his back disappear in the darkness. A brilliant commander, but to be considered a friend, complicated.
