Tonight I started packing all my things. It doesn't feel good to ride long enough in Mas Gun contract. Indeed, he never questioned how long I had been there, whatever I did. But, it is not comfortable if you have to continue hitchhiking.
"Mas, suwun yo," I said briefly while tidying up some of my clothes.
"What the heck Di, lebay terribly." he answered briefly with his cigarette suction in.
"Gue you want to be together kost here with me. Uh, even want to hostel yourself." he continued.
"I told you, I'm not good. There are many people who come here every day" I replied.
"Well, if it's not good, love the cat. Hehehe." Mas Gun chuckled.
Mas Gun is my senior best since nyantren first. I remember back at the cottage, she protected me from a prank senior who was about to bully me. Mas Gun was my father's student in elementary school. Info about college and college I got from him.
drrrttt drrrtt
My phone's vibrating. Ani's sister?
"Assalamu'alaikum mbak." I answered my mother's phone.
"Vaalaikumsalam. You healthy at?" ask her there.
"Alhamdulillah healthy mbak. Are you healthy yourself?"
"Heath alhamdulillah. How's college? Smoothly?"
"Yes so mbak, still smooth because it is still the beginning of the semester there are not many obstacles anyway. Dad mom healthy mbak?" my many.
"Good if it's good. Dad's healthy, just mom's not feeling well anymore. Get used to it, catch a cold" replied Ani.
"Where, have you got a hostess yet Di? It's not good if the ride continues with Thunder"
"Already mbak, just this afternoon can a suitable price. Yes mbak, I have also said the same Mas Gun, it is not good if the ride continues here." I replied.
"Alhamdulillah if you can. Yowes, I don't just want to ask you. Inget order dad yes, pray not stay."
"Mbak, not in the dong"
"Greetings to Thunder. Say thank you for visiting Adi for two weeks. Assalamu'alaikum."
"Magih mbak, will be conveyed his greetings. Waalaikumsalam mbak."
After a short conversation with Ani Ma'am, I returned to tidying up my things. Mas Gun is playing games on his phone. After I finished cleaning things, I made a cup of coffee and sat down in front of the room.
Kontrakan Mas Gun is located in a dense settlement near the campus. Many boarding houses lined and terraced. The clock on my phone shows at 22:41, the atmosphere here is not so quiet. There are still a lot of motorcycles. Some food cart sellers also occasionally still pass by.
I leaned against the front wall of Mas Gun's boarding house, occasionally scooping coffee. I looked at the atmosphere around, but my eyes were fixed on a familiar shadow. I squinted my eyes sharply, to make them more visible. The shadow was like the figure of an old grandfather who passed me earlier. The shadow was next to a contract, close to a piece of land where the garbage was dumped.
I rubbed my eyes many times, to be sure of what I saw. The shadow is now more clearly visible as an old grandfather figure with a blangkon and his black clothes. I got up from my seat, I watched the grandfather. His eyes are looking at me. Half of his face was dark, but his gaze was clear.
"Sir, cake! Grandpa!" call me.
Grandpa did not answer. He just kept quiet and still looked at me. I put on my sandals, and walked slowly to where my grandfather was standing.
"Wooii's On!" call Mas Gun from the inside.
"Yes mas!" my answer.
"Where are you? To the shop?" ask Mas Gun.
I went back to my room and approached Mas Gun.
"No," I answered.
"Well, where are you going if not to the shop?"
"Anu anu aja. It's me nitip cigarettes." Mas Gun gave me a piece of money.
"Yes, um."
I walked towards where the old man was standing. His figure no longer exists. Long enough I stood by the garbage dump, looking for the figure of an old grandfather. But there is no. Just a bunch of rats scrambling a bunch of plastic trash. I also passed, heading to the shop to buy cigarettes.
"Buy cigarettes where in?" mas Gun asked, his two thumbs still dancing on his phone screen.
"It's customary in the Kokom Tea shop" I replied as I threw a pack of cigarettes ordered by Mas Gun.
"Oh in Kokom Tea, kirain buy in Kudus,"
"Hehehehehe, why mas?" my many.
"It's a long way to go to Kokom doang Tea. I'm kirain lo to Kudus."
"Eh mas, I saw my grandparents before." I said.
"Which grandfathers?" ask Mas Gun.
"That's you know, the grandparents who saw me in the field there. I told you about it at the pecel. Forgot?"
"Yes inget. So why?"
"So I'm samperin, I told you time!" my word.
"Aaahh is dead again! Shit!" Mas Gun shouted. He put his phone down.
"In, I asked once again yes," Mas Gun said. I'm nodding.
"Lo sure you want a hostel in the area?" tanyakanya.
"Why not be sure?"
"Yeee ni son, asked even back nanya. Answer first!" sukul Mas Gun's.
"Confirm mas. Time is not sure, just dokost doang kok." I replied.
"That's not the problem. If only ngekost doang everyone is also sure. In, there is a deserted area, many say there is a serem area. Are you sure you still want to host up there?" tanya Mas Gun convinced me.
"Mas, it's not that I don't listen to your advice. But, only there I get a fairly cheap price, and the atmosphere I like. I'm sure." I explained.
"According to you, the grandparents you met earlier were a sign of what just a coincidence?" ask Mas Gun back.
"Hahahahaha, meet grandfather doang mas. What omens? Hahahahaha." my lead.
"Idiiiihh, even kidding this child."
"Lagian lo lebay mas. When I met my grandparents, I said omens. What's a sign of mas?" my word.
"Gue didn't know what the signs were. Kan lo own story, same papasan grandfather-grandfather continues suddenly tuh grandfather lost. Also, lo see the grandfather who was, right in the samperin is missing. What do you think is a sign of coincidence?" Mas Gun said.
"OK on mas, okay. It's weird, but I think it's just a coincidence. Or just my hallucinations only once." I said.
"Okay, that means coincidence. Hopefully it's just a coincidence or a hallucination of course." responded Mas Gun.
"Look easy. I'm sure there's nothing weird." I pacified Mas Gun.
"All right, that's your business." murmured Mas Gun.
"Oalaahh, start your song style. Hahahahaha." I said while punching Mas Gun slowly on the shoulder, he laughed.
That night I had a late chat with Mas Gun, this was my last night in his contract. Coincidentally, there is no scheduled lecture tomorrow. Mas Gun said, the day after tomorrow will help me move to Kost Pak Thamrin. Good, hope everything goes well.
