Demon Laws
Chapter 53: The Witch Comes Up

Sia was seriously ill and lay in her room for two days after the incident. Both of his legs felt limp as he got off the bed.

But Dewey still gave a gift to the loyal servant, because when threatened unable to land in a hot air balloon on that day, the panicked Sia inadvertently suggested to turn off the furnace.

The suggestion reminded Dewey that the power of a hot air balloon was related to the temperature of the gas inside the balloon. After turning off the furnace, the gas cooled, the balloon finally landed.

After landing, poor Sia almost vomited all her internal organs. Finally he was brought back by the cavalry team that came.

When everyone guessed what else the strange Young Master would do, Dewey fell silent.

Dewey no longer made anything for days. Dewey knew very well that he was not interested in doing much to waste energy. Both fireworks and football betting, they are just ways to make money to overcome their lack of funds.

Dewey had no interest in doing anything like the industrial revolution. The goal was to make money for a cost-effective magic experiment.

Now, while he doesn't have to worry about money anymore, Dewey stops doing nothing.

In addition to going to Solskjaer's lab to see the magician's progress, and then seeing the research and development team of hot air balloons and fireworks, Dewey spent all his time studying magic.

Every night he went to the third floor terrace of the magic laboratory for a night out. He and Solskjaer have formed a harmony. The laboratory used Solskjaer during the day and Dewey at night. The two do not bother each other.

It has been more than a month, but the ‘star magic practice’ Dewey did not break through the first step. The concept of star power was still too gray. There are no specific standards or descriptions. Even Semel could not say accurately about the power of stars. After all, this Semel was not a necromancer himself, but inherited a copy of the memory. There were many questions from Dewey that Semel could not answer.

In addition to learning star magic at night, Dewey will also study mainland orthodox magic during the day. Solskjaer is a little helpful in this regard. After all, she was also a witch. Dewey was able to obtain some low-level magic spells from Solskjaer.

Over the past month, Dewey had mastered several low-level spells, such as fireballs from fire magic, wind blades from wind magic. Dewey can display it calmly. Among those low-level magic-magic, Dewey is most proficient in ‘guts’ technique and ‘speed-enhancing technique.

Eventually, Solskjaer admits that Dewey's magical power and sense of power have now surpassed him. Based on his current strength, if Dewey was willing to participate in the Magic Union's assessment, he could easily obtain the qualifications of a level one mage.

It was also the result of Dewey hiding some of his strength.

Although Dewey did not manage to learn star magic, Semel's spell was very effective for the growth of his spiritual power. The intensity of his magic power had already reached level three magicians.

For the power of sensing, thanks to Chris's ‘antena’ giving in his head, the power of sensing Dewey is even more sensitive than many mid-level mages.

This afternoon, Sia is again given an important assignment by Dewey.

As Dewey's caretaker, Sia was responsible for delivering the gifts Dewey carefully prepared for the Countess' birthday to the imperial capital.

Dewey spent one night writing letters. Dewey still had feelings for the beautiful and gentle Countess. Especially when she was sick as a child, the Countess knelt for one night at the Temple of Light, then took care of her without rest. Even after her sister was born, everyone abandoned her, the Countess still often came to her room, carrying and luring her.

Dewey felt overwhelmed. The beautiful, gentle woman showed the affection of a large and simple mother. Though his affection made Dewey feel guilty, because he was not his son. But that affection made Dewey unable to forget the beautiful, gentle mother.

Her birthday present was ‘The Forgiveness of the Goddess Dawn’ that Dewey carefully prepared.

Dewey believed that the never-before-seen reward would trigger a stir in the Earl's residence. Dewey doesn't care about the furore, he hopes the Countess can be happy at her birthday party.

Sia set out to bring some followers. The Countess' birthday is seven days away. If nothing happened along the way, Sia might be able to arrive two days before the Countess' birthday.

After dropping off Sia, Dewey felt more relaxed. Actually, he had another purpose. After all, being locked up is very unpleasant. He must not leave a certain area around the castle. After more than a month, two were already depressed. I hope this amazing birthday present makes her dad feel better about her. Dewey doesn't care about pocket money of 300 coins per month. He only wished the Earl pleasure and repealed his sentence.

On the night of Dewey's departure, the moon was bright and the stars were shining. On such a beautiful night, Dewey was suddenly excited. He told the waiter to prepare a furnace and put it on the terrace of the laboratory building, then had the chef in the castle prepare some beef, lamb and some vegetables from the farm behind the castle, he said, plus a nice bottle of wine.

Dewey's gonna have a BBQ out there.

The beef was put on the iron over the fire. Dewey took his own homemade brush, dipped it in the seasoning he had prepared, then smeared the beef over and over again. His movements were very careful, he tried to make every inch of meat coated with spices evenly.

The aroma of meat barberkyu mixed with spices overflowed. Dewey took a deep breath with pleasure. He even hummed a little.

Seeing Dewey so comfortable, Semel looked astonished.

“What song are you singing? Like a poet's work, but why don't I understand a single word?”

Dewey lazily explained. He snorted, then took a fork to turn the meat over, picked up a wine bottle and drank a mouthful.

“Wine combined with meat.” Dewey nodded with satisfaction. “The weather is so good, the night is so beautiful, with a gentle breeze, eating barbecue meat accompanied by good wine. Too bad, if there was music.”

“You are quite comfortable, yes.” Semel pout. “Tonight not learn star magic?”

“I've been studying for a month over.” Dewey smiled wryly. “Spiritual power is a very effective exercise, but I don't understand star power. Not that I am lazy, but if I do not understand, in a day and two days also can not be completed. I've been tired for over a month, certainly should have time to relax.”

Finished speaking, he picked up the steak with a fork and bit it carefully. The smell in his mouth made Dewey almost bite his tongue. He smiled faintly. “Enak, delicious! Too bad, you can't eat food like this.”

Semel immediately rolled his eyeballs. He is a magical creature, just a psychic object. Without a physique, he was just a ghost, not needing to eat, drink or sleep.

Dewey unsealed her so that her spirit had remembered Dewey's magic mark. He's almost a shadow of Dewey.

“You do not eat, drink or sleep. Isn't living like that so boring?” Dewey sighed while looking at Semel.

Semel was still wearing a red robe. After Dewey reminded him many times, he finally paid more attention to his behavior, no longer jumping on the fence and swinging his two beautiful legs.

Semel again rolled his eyeballs.

“Oh yes, I want to ask you something.” Dewey winked. “How long can you live?”

“Same as you.” Semel felt a little helpless as he said that. “I was released by you. That sealing spell binds my life with your spiritual power. How long you live, that's how long I live. If you die and your spiritual power disappears, I will disappear.”

“Then, aren't we as lively as we are?” Dewey's expression looked strange/

“Please note your words, little nobleman.” Semel smirked. “Do not forget that I am your great-grandmother, great-grandmother, great-grandmother.”

Dewey immediately snorted and glared at Semel. “You are only a replica, not the original Semel. In addition, have you ever seen a great-grandmother who exposes both her legs in front of her own great-granddaughter every day?”

Dewey leaned against the chair casually, chewing on a piece of meat while looking at Semel who was standing on the edge of the fence. The moonlight shone on his face. Red robes, long white hair. From the side, her face looked gentle, but there was a confused expression on her face.

“What are you thinking?” ask Dewey.

“No idea, that's why I thought.” Semel's answer was a little strange, but his tone sounded low.

He turned around and looked at Dewey with a puzzled look. “Actually I feel myself very strange. When sealed in a painting, every day I wish I could get out. But after coming out, I found that I didn't know what to do. I'm not human, but Semel gave me some of his memories, making me think like a human. The last few days following you have made me feel confused. I don't know what I should do. Although being by your side is very relaxing and freer than being sealed in a painting, this leaves me even more confused. You are human and can still live for tens, even hundreds of years. Is it for the next hundred years that I can only stay by your side, talk to you, be your shadow? Every day just look and see up to a hundred years, then disappear with you who died?”

Dewey sat up straight, his expression becoming more serious. He glanced at Semel at a glance then sighed. “I was very surprised. Your mind is approaching humans. Really am. But I can't answer your question, because the problem you're thinking about is the big question that even the wisest among mankind cannot answer, the meaning of life.”

“Means of life,” reset Semel.

Seeing the sad expression on Semel's face, Dewey suddenly recalled the fairy tale ‘Pinokio’ he had heard in his previous life.

Dewey told Semel.

The magical beast heard him seriously, not even interrupting once.

When Dewey said that the nose of ‘Pinokio’ would lengthen if lying, Semel laughed off happily, even innocently.

When Dewey said that ‘Pinokio’ wanted to be a real human being and have a human body, Semel lowered his head so that Dewey could not see his expression.

After Dewey finishes the story, the wooden doll eventually becomes a real human….

“I also want to have a real body,” said Semel suddenly.

His voice was very slow. However, in a voice as gentle as that, Dewey heard a desire.

When hearing the story of ‘Pinokio’ before, Dewey felt nothing. But tonight, seeing this magical creature sitting in front of him and saying his wish sadly, Dewey felt pity. However, he did not know how to comfort Semel.

“Maybe ...” Dewey thought. “Maybe we can try it. Who knows magic can ...”

“It's night, I want to rest.” Semel spontaneously interrupted Dewey's speech. His words were very strange, because the magical beast did not need to rest.

He's clearly on the run from Dewey's impossible consolation.

Semel's figure disappeared, Dewey sighed. He knew that Semel did not want to talk anymore. When the magical beast did not want to speak, he could possess any object in Dewey's body.

Rings, badges, clothes, boots. As long as Semel wanted to, he could even possess the Dewey belt. Otherwise if he floated by Dewey's side all day, Dewey would feel like he was being followed by a ghost.

Dewey. He didn't intercept Semel to escape. Dewey could have ordered Semel to come out – because Dewey unsealed him with a spell, then the magician had to listen to all of Dewey's – commands but Dewey knew that his mood was bad and did not want to talk anymore.

After drinking a mouthful of wine, the fire extinguished, Dewey curled up in the chair lazily while looking up at the sky.

The sky was still bright, Dewey asked himself. “For me, what does life mean?”

After sitting for a long time, when Dewey was feeling a little tired and was about to go back to sleep, he was suddenly startled. His powerful spiritual power felt a turmoil in the air.

Turmoil as weak as anything could not be hidden from Dewey's spiritual power. He spontaneously sat and stared around.

“It seems you are very sensitive.” Amidst the darkness, a voice suddenly sounded.

The voice sounded very old, but its tone sounded soft, even amused. “To my knowledge, you do not have such spiritual power, Mr. Dewey Rollin.”

Someone appeared from outside the balcony railing in front of him.

Amidst the darkness, that person was wearing a white magic robe. His face was old, his beard was long, his eyebrows were neat, his smile was also gentle. But his gaze as he stared at Dewey was extremely sharp.

His gaze made Dewey a little uncomfortable.

“Who are you?” Dewey. “A witch? Looks like I don't have any relationship with the Magic Union.”

The witch-robed old man floated from the top of the fence to several steps before Dewey. His face is still smiling. It must be admitted that despite her old age, she has delicate skin and a shining gaze that is not appropriate for her age.

Dewey had never seen anyone with such a glare.

“You surprised me so much. Earlier I thought you were just a little royals impostor.” This old witch looked at Dewey with a smile. “But now it seems that you have incredible spiritual power. Oh, can you be magic too? There is no need to make fire magic cues, there is no need to be wary of me. That was completely useless against me.”

Dewey looked at the old man more and more carefully. “Who are you really?

“I, yes...” The old witch suddenly walked to Dewey's side, bent down to pick up the wine bottle, then gulped it down before sighing. “Good egg. Rollin's family wine has always been this delicious. You should be honored, son, because you are the first person from the Rollin family to buy me a drink in the last hundred years.”

“You peeked at me earlier?!” Dewey's expression darkened. The existence of Semel is a secret. Dewey doesn't want anyone else to know that he's being followed by a magical creature.

“No, I won't do anything as low as that.” The old witch smiled. “I just got here. For years not coming to the Rollin Plains, I was almost lost. Oh yeah, you weren't in the room, you were drinking wine here last night. Is the discipline of the Rollin family towards their descendants so loose and free now?”

Dewey's starting to be alert. “Sounds like you really understand the Rollin family?”

“No, no, no.” The old witch smiled casually. “I only knew a few people from the Rollin family when I was young. Oh, it's been a long time.”

“Alright,” Dewey said carefully, then sat up straight. He put his hand in his pocket and held the magic scroll. “Your Majesty the Witch, you came night-night not just because of passing, right?”

“I came to see you.” The old witch thought as if she had just remembered the purpose of her arrival. “At first I just wanted to ask for some stuff from you.”

“What?”

“Some items.” The old witch sighed. “You snatched a lot of stuff from that little stupid student of mine. Even though the child is innocent, as a teacher, I must not allow my students to be played like that.”

Dewey finally understood. “You... You are Vivian's teacher?!”
