The half-bald old man was named David, he came from another village that took a four-hour drive in an old farm truck that could not drive at a speed of more than 50 kilometers per hour.
Mahla smiled kindly at the sad looking old man. Beside him, Shoshana watched the man who seemed to be her grandfather with big tears that kept streaming down her two translucent cheeks.
“Shoshana here?” Ask David when Mahla approaches him. The girl was not surprised by David's question, because usually the person who came to him did get a clue first from the spirit of his family to come to Mahla.
Mahla was sitting cross-legged in front of David, while Shoshana was lightly fluttering to David's side and seemed to want to hug the old man, but her face turned sad as she could not touch him at all.
Mahla watches Shoshana's tears that are almost as big as a tennis ball come out continuously from her enormous eyes. “Why do you cry constantly?” Ask Mahla slowly. David who heard the question turned to the right side where Mahla's eyes were fixed.
“She's here?” Ask David full haru. Mahla could feel the old man's longing for Shoshana, who was probably his most beloved granddaughter. Mahla nods her head in response to David's question and asks Shoshana to come closer to her.
The girl wondered why Shoshana did not just enter her mind so that she could immediately find out what Shoshana and her grandfather wanted.
I can't just go in.
Shoshana said directly while throwing a very reproachful look at Mahla who did not understand the spirit's speech at all.
“What the hell do you mean?” Tegur Mahla on Shoshana who is now glaring annoyed at him, what an unpleasant sight to see. Mahla then heard a flap of wings and a cool breeze blew against her face. Time seemed to swallow and scavenge, to the extent that Mahla could see the air particles slowing moving.
“What is this?” Mahla was worried. He had never experienced anything like this in his entire life.
They won't get into your mind just like that.
The cold wind whispered in Mahla's mind. The girl watched over the frozen Shoshana, as if time had just stopped. Mahla also observed David fluttering on the sofa with a cigar hanging stiffly on his lips.
“Barukh, is that you?” Ask Mahla slowly. He could recognize the cold air as a sign of Baruch's presence there.
Only what you allow can connect with you now.
Mahla felt very grateful to the ancient spirit of her guard. He believes it has something to do with the events when Baruch saved him from Sharai's clutches. Maybe Baruch made some kind of protection for Mahla so that other beings could not take her soul for granted.
“Alright, I understand Barukh.” Tukas Mahla after understanding the true state of his present state. A second later, the air moved again, Mahla could feel the wind that had stopped on her face.
“Shoshana, I let you share whatever you want to tell David.” Mahla said straightforwardly as she extended her hand towards the ghost of Shoshana. It was so fun to be in control of his own abilities, all this time he felt very vulnerable because his body could be taken over at any time.
It didn't take long after he said it, Mahla saw the black birds filling his vision. When he opened his eyes, he was Shoshana.
*
Shoshana is a quiet girl with beautiful golden long hair who is always tied up to form a ponytail. He lived in a luxurious house with carved windows and doors that were twice the height of adults.
In the mansion, Shoshana lived like a princess. However, behind the luxury he has, Shoshana is always moody and feels empty. His wealthy merchant parents treated him like an expensive property without freedom. On his seventeenth birthday, he would even be betrothed to James, another merchant who was over thirty years of age.
“Papa, I don't want to marry Yakob, or anyone else right now!" Isak Shosana kneeling before
the bloated man he called papa. Meanwhile, next to the man, there was a woman who was no less lush with a face that continued to frown.
One of her teachers, a woman who was the same age as her mother, Shoshana called her madam Rosie, she taught Shoshana as a noble adult woman who would later serve her husband. It is indescribable how Shoshana felt when the teacher began groping Shoshana's body under the pretext of teaching her how to be a full woman.
The beautiful girl also could only endure her discomfort because madam Rosie also asked her to return the touch of the teacher's body in places hidden behind the dress.
“Please, Madame, don't ask me to do these disgusting things!” Pinta Shoshana one day when the jerry can no longer be held.
But Madam Rosi did not comment at all on her words, she instead encouraged Shoshana to do
something more inappropriate. Shoshana could not forget how the woman's lower body smelled after being forced to put her mouth in there.
He feels cursed. Bad and formless. His soul slowly shuddered. Shoshana loses her spirit to continue to exist in the world.
The girl let her golden hair tangle, she spent her days languishing. He cried and continued to cry until his eyes were swollen, while his body was wrinkled because he also refused all the food given to him.
Her parents did not care much for her, they let Shoshana lament her fate in her luxurious room, while Madam Rosie's torture came back to her over and over again. He could no longer resist the urge to end his life.
Exactly seven years ago, Shoshana exhaled her last breath after stabbing a butter knife right at her neck.
Mahla gasps from the trance state and realizes that both her eyes are hot and watery. He must have cried the whole time when he was talking to Shoshana. His heart was about knowing that the girl who was his age had such a dark life.
Mahla poked her eyes at him with the long shirt she was wearing, as a thought suddenly flashed through her mind.
"Wait a minute, why didn't I see you in the last days of Shoshana?” Ask Mahla wonder. David seems to have a very strong bond with Shoshana, but he is completely invisible in Shoshana's memory before he dies.
Mahla glanced at Shoshana who was looking at David sadly. The man sucked his cigar deeply and then exhaled it slowly.
“That's because I wasn't there during his last days.” Brisque David. “He is very close to me and my wife, he needs someone who can love him, because for his father and mother, Shoshana is nothing more than a valuable asset that can be sold at any time.” David said with a bowed face. Sadness looked very dark overshadowing his figure.
“I was just a gardener in that mansion, and my wife was a cook there. For days she heard Shoshana wailing miserably, and looking very sick every time my wife delivered food for her. My wife told me that every time she came home from work, she wanted to be able to hug Shoshana, but her guards did not let her approach more than five steps towards Shoshana.”
Shoshana brought back the details of a very large tear, if only he was not transparent, Mahla sure, the living room carpet of her mother was already in tears Shoshana.
“Nobody knew of Shoshana's departure even to this day, her parents covered her up by saying that she had been betrothed to a rich merchant.” Bisik David was sad. He inhaled his cigar again before continuing. “My own wife was sure, Shoshana was dead, she saw that night, some very trusted servants were carrying large parcels from Shoshana's room. After that, for no apparent reason, we were fired, while the rest of his family moved somewhere."
Mahla nodded in understanding David's story. “Then?” Ask curiously. David cleared his throat. “My wife died shortly after, she felt so guilty that she could have smuggled Shoshana out of that cursed house. Before he died, we were both looking for the truth about the Shoshana family story, but we never got a bright spot."
There were tears in David's eyes when he talked about his wife. The sadness felt increasingly dark in Mahla's eyes. “Shoshana came to me right after my wife died. It took me seven years to believe that everything he showed in the dream was true.” Continued David bitter.
“What did he show you, David?” ask Mahla slowly. David looked straight into Mahla's eyes. “You. He wanted me to look for you so I could find where he was dumped.”
Mahla took a deep breath, before she could answer a word, David continued. “And he wants you to help him find Madam Rosie.”
Mahla felt that day would be very long.
