When Zhao Youlin saw how relaxed the person was, she cursed herself, wondering why a bastard like him existed in this world. If not for the fact that Joy seemed to like him, she would have kicked him out without hesitation.

Despite all of that, he smiled kindly but aloof. She politely declined it, “Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Ye. But, it is not good for a child to eat such foods excessively. I still have some at home. You don't have to waste money on this, Mr. Ye.”

Initially, Joy stared wide-eyed at the colorful cakes and candies in Ye Yan's hands. As soon as he heard Zhao Youlin's words, he immediately averted his gaze. He held onto Zhao Youlin's hand obediently and lowered his head to look at the ants crawling at her feet.

Ye Yan did not seem to be surprised by Zhao Youlin's refusal. He just smiled faintly and changed the subject.

He said, “Mrs Zhao, you were right. Fast food is really bad for our health. This is badku.” As Ye Yan spoke, he bowed and looked at Joy's lowered head.

She smiled faintly and said, “Joy, I've never cared for a child before, so I don't know what a child likes, and what foods are more suitable for you. Can you tell me so I can take you out to eat next time?”

Right after Ye Yan spoke, Joy immediately raised her head and looked at Ye Yan expectantly. However, he quickly drew the excitement on his face immediately and looked at Zhao Youlin who was standing beside him with guilt.

Zhao Youlin looked at her pitiful son who was about to slip his tongue. But it was just a close call. He kept a flat face and lifted Joy up.

He said, “Sorry, Mr. Ye. Joy has a weak stomach. Most of the time, I don't allow her to take stranger food. What Joy wants, I'll buy for her. Mr Ye, there is no need to spend money for us.”

Although Zhao Youlin felt her heartache from her son's loneliness ever since she was young and knew that she had always wanted a friend, she couldn't let her silly son be convinced with just a few candies.

Master Ye might look friendly on the surface. However, after many years of experience, he became acquainted with various people and honed his perceptions and sharpened his judgment. He knew that Master Ye was certainly not as simple as it seemed.

“Master Ye, is there anything else? If not, we will move first. It's time for Joy to eat.”

Zhao Youlin held onto Joy and was about to leave as soon as she finished her words without even waiting for Ye Yan's reply.

"Wait!" Ye Yan never expected Zhao Youlin to reject him blatantly. He even turned around to leave without any hesitation at all.

Out of desperation, he grabbed Zhao Youlin's hand. Zhao Youlin narrowed her eyes. He shook his hand violently and nimbly broke away from Ye Yan's grip. He sneered, "Master Ye, please take care of your limits."

Ye Yan froze as he looked at his right hand hanging in the air in the blink of an eye. A glint of astonishment flashed in his eyes.

Then, he glanced at Zhao Youlin again. There was a clear sign of defense and ridicule from his smile. Heart's shaking. Just as he was about to explain himself, a cruel scream coming from a woman suddenly exploded from behind.

“I wonder why someone has such courage that even after a divorce, he is still reluctant to return home even though his father and mother have personally come to pick him up.
