For a week, Sarah's father lay in a coma in the ICU.
The cancer had spread throughout his body carried by the Blood, all of his organs had almost all been filled with myeloma tissue.
The disease had spread so quickly, rendering Sarah's father helpless in an instant. Sarah's tears never stopped, waiting for every possible miracle.
Day and night he was always beside the father, even to eat he had to be forced by Raka.
"Darling, you must remain strong in the face of all this. Because if you're sick, then how can you be strong to continue to be able to accompany me."
"I can't swallow anything right now."
"Dear, whatever happens. Even the worst possibility that happened is impossible to deny if it should happen. But there is always wisdom behind everything. And again Rae needs her mother to stay healthy, she still needs her mother's breast milk." Raka picked up a box of rice she had just brought.
Sarah shook her head, how not the father had been so long lying with his eyes closed in the Intensive Care Unit room, just special medical devices that looked like a series of wires to his father's body, he said, these tools are used to support the function of damaged organs in patients, in order to survive.
Raka took a spoon, and scooped the rice into Sarah's mouth.
"Darling, eat it.by dad." Raka softly said. Sarah shook her head, she really has no appetite now.
"Dad didn't eat anything. He never woke up for almost a week." Rejecting Sarah, she really felt so frustrated with her father's circumstances.
Sarah can sometimes only look at her father from behind the glass, the rules that apply in the ICU room are different from ordinary hospital rooms. Even close family in certain conditions can not enter. But from the beginning it was only Sarah and Rakalah who were allowed to enter there.
Sarah could barely bear to see a ventilator hose inserted through her mouth, nose or through a small hole made in her throat, the doctor said the tool as a breathing aid installed on Sarah's father because it seems Sarah's father has difficulty bern with severe lung damage to difficulty breathing.
Beside his father's bed, there is a screen that shows the condition of heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels in the blood.
Sometimes Sarah's heartbeat stopped while observing on the screen, visible lines that show the graph of her father's heartbeat that make a sound according to the heartbeat of his father. At night, he was always almost unable to sleep, he was so afraid of losing his heartbeat while he was asleep.
"Eat for me and Rae.we don't know what we'll be like, if you get sick too."
Raka's voice sounded soft but firm.
Sarah stares at her husband, hearing those words, as if she were conscious, that she should not simply dissolve into her own grief without thinking about those closest to her who also love her.
Then he grabbed Raka's wrist, pointed the spoon at her open mouth shaking.
"I'll eat..." Sarah whispered half a whisper, while chewing the rice that went into her mouth.
"I. I.m.must eat." She took the rice box from her husband's hand and scooped the rice and chewed and swallowed it, even though it had almost no taste in her tongue.
Sarah tried hard while continuing to eat with Raka's almost unblinking gaze, but her tears could not be contained on the eighth bribe. Raka took the rice box and spoon from Sarah's hands, put it to the table and hugged her.
He no longer speaks. Raka knew very well, Sarah was crying not because she was so weak. But, because Sarah has been trying strong for a long time.
"How painful...It hurt a lot when I did my best, but it turned out that this was not enough. It doesn't even make any changes." Sarah sniffles.
"That's because God wants to see your strength, He molds you, takes you hard, so that you remain a strong person."
Raka's words, along with a nurse approaching them.
The two stood together when they heard the young nurse's words.
"What's wrong?" Sarah asked, nervously. Raka clasped his wife's hands suddenly cold as ice.
When they arrived inside the ICU, there were two specialists there. There is a bone specialist who handles Sarah's father from the beginning, a doctor Pram and an oncologist, a specialist doctor Kangker, Doctor Budi.
"How's dad doing?" Sarah stared at the bed, where the father was lying just as he had left her. Somehow, Sarah felt that the heart rate monitor looked irregular.
Doctor Budi looked at Dr. Pram, he felt Pram's doctor was better at talking, considering from the beginning this doctor was always accompanying the care of Mr. Winarta.
"Mother Sarah...You seem to drop today, there is a decrease in conditions that yesterday I have conveyed the possibility to mother." Doctor Pram sighed for a moment.
"We have tried our best, and Mr. Raka has also heard the prognosis of patients from several doctors who handle and the possibility for the father to survive." Doctor Pram directed a glance at Raka.
"We have also done resuscitation, from the history of this father's disease, we really try the best we can do." The stressed and repetitive sentences made Sarah nanar look at the doctor.
"What else should we do?" Sarah asked in a trembling voice.
"As humans, we have tried our best. But it is God who has the life of mankind. Medicine and all medical devices are but media, God's miracles are now more than all." Answer Doctor Pram.
"A...what...must I do?" Sarah stood up trembling, she did not really need to ask twice, the doctor Pram had quite clearly said, there is nothing else to do but hope and wait for a miracle from God.
Raka held Sarah's arms together, holding her body from falling.
"Bring the father to prayer." Doctor Budi then replied, the gentle-faced man smiled bracingly.
Raka leads Sarah to a chair beside her father's bed.
Sarah was holding her father's fingers, the back of her hand was warm.
"Dad...did you hear me?" Sarah put her face close to her father's ear.
"If you hear me. I want to. I want to bring you a prayer." His whisper with a trembling voice.
"Lord...Creator of all life, God who gives breath to all creatures."Sarah bluntly said sentence by sentence while holding the hand of the father.
"Right now, we pray in Your presence, You are the Lord who allows this pain and only You have the power to eliminate this disease. Give healing because you are a healer. No one can cure a disease except you. Unplug this disease, give healing that leaves no more pain." Sarah's tears fell unstoppable, over her father's hands.
"Lord, take away all my father's pain, take away all this sickness, if you will. Suffer his suffering, Lord...But all your plans are the best."
Sarah's father's eyes were closed, her body still motionless, but two clear feathers fell from the corner of her eye.
