Chapter 8 Ambition

Somewhere far from the crowd, a large house still stood firm despite the messy circumstances. Everyone who lived around him never dared to come closer let alone enter, because word spread that the house was inhabited by evil spirits.

The rumor was not entirely wrong, behind the condition of the abandoned contents in the house was quite neat because something was occupying. He was not an evil spirit, but a blood-hunting night creature.

"Cold, can't we find a better place?" said a girl who was sitting with her legs raised on the table.

"Don't complain Tianna, this is the best place to work" said one man, enjoying a glass of blood.

"But Keenan, this place stinks! you said we'd stay in the palace" he lamented.

"Patience, you will soon be able to stay in the palace and be served by thousands of servants"

"You always say that all the time" he said.

"Here you go, let's go down! I want to know how far Alabama's research goes" he said, finishing his drink.

They moved from their seats and walked to the other side of the room, from the outside there was a large closet filled with things. Keenan easily shifted the cupboard until a door was seen behind it, he opened the door and entered it in the following Tianna.

For humans they will not be able to breathe well because the road behind the secret door is quite stuffy, but they are not humans therefore they can walk well even without light.

A few minutes walk until they were in a room where an old vampire was busy looking at the green liquid in a glass bottle, he seemed engrossed himself without caring about the arrival of the two vampires.

"Have you got anything new?" ask Keenan.

"Yet, so far it's still the same" he replied.

"How much longer do I have to wait?" ask Keenan.

"Until you can find Anna, you know it!" answer Alabama.

Keenan could not ask any more questions, he knew the old vampire's words were true. He also wanted to immediately find Anna's whereabouts but unfortunately there was not the slightest trace that led to her existence, almost he was desperate when at first after capturing Reinner he thought he could find Anna quickly.

"Is Reinner's blood not enough? didn't he survive death thanks to his sister?" tianna asked who was not very understanding of the research.

"His blood is different, even though he's a king, but he's basically a half-magician vampire. There's nothing special about that!" answer Keenan.

"Then why do you keep it?"

"Then what should I do to him?" reply Keenan asked.

"Why do you bother taking care of it? just throw him out!"

"Can't! regardless of whether Rei is Anna's brother, I'm sure one day he'll be useful" Alabama replied.

Tianna snorted violently, he could not say anymore because Alabama was one of the vampires he respected even though the old vampire had spent his entire life researching something that he thought was useless.

"Go see him again, maybe you missed something" Alabama ordered.

"I understand" Keenan replied.

Before leaving Tianna had a glance into the cell that was in the room, the place was darker than the other rooms. Suddenly an even more gripping chill gave him goosebumps when a pair of red eyes stared at him from behind bars, he knew something was there much longer before his arrival. Something he thought was more terrifying than anything he had ever encountered, something that made him think Keenan and Alabama were insane for nurturing him.

"Keenan, can I just stay home?" ask Tianna.

"Why?"

"Alright, it's up to you" replied Keenan who then left.

As the night grew brighter with the perfect full moon, Tianna decided to spend some time on the roof enjoying a dull day.

From there he still had time to see Keenan who walked away from the house before finally lost among the trees, he could also see the houses on the other side that looked silent.

A few years ago when the news of Viktoria's defeat became the subject of gossip in every corner of Keenan came to him and invited him to cooperate, until now, he honestly did not know what Keenan's purpose was and never found out either.

He wanted to come because Keenan promised him luxury and the throne, of course he knew not the throne of the king he meant but at least he would get the respect of the nobility.

As a vampire girl his age is relatively young and often considered a boy, since long ago he often saw Viktoria loved by many nobles and contested by every young vampire. It was enough to make her jealous especially Viktoria was not interested in it, Viktoria was also brought to the palace to be a princess there even though she was the one who wanted it.

Viktoria's death has changed the lives of vampires a little, for herself it was quite auspicious because she finally had a chance to become a princess in the palace.

All he needed to do now was follow Keenan's orders whatever it was, even if it included living in a smelly old house.

"Ah boring! maybe I should just go for a walk" he murmured.

Tianna began to rise and jump from the roof despite his height enough to kill a human, without getting hurt in the slightest he managed to land on his two legs perfectly.

While in other places Keenan has arrived, his arrival was welcomed by loyal guards who have served him since long ago.

Keenan continued to enter the room where Reinner was detained, it seems that today Reinner is more energetic because he was able to lift his face as Keenan walked up to him.

"Have you eaten?" ask Keenan.

"Where?" ask Rei slowly.

Keenan frowned, he did not understand whether the question was directed at him or just muttering.

"Where is my wife?" the question made Keenan understand.

"I don't know for sure, but I'll give you a hint if you want to cooperate" Keenan replied.

"Who are you really? why are you doing this to me?" ask Rei lirih.

"I told you I want your sister, so you better start working with me"

"If.... I have a clue do you want to tell me where my wife is?"

"Of course"

"Then tell me what's your purpose? why do you want to know where Anna is?" ask Rei.

Keenan smiled faintly which made his face look hideous, slowly he approached Reinner and whispered in his ear.

"Strength."

That was all she wanted, Anna was the only creature she adored aside from Lord the vampire king. Desas desus about the mysterious figure of Anna attracted his attention to want to know the development of the kingdom, but all this time he was always indifferent and busy with his own world.

Especially when he heard Anna who brought home the stone of immortality made Keenan even more obsessed with him, he wanted to have the same power as Anna. A power that could kill her sister and walk in the hot sun without worrying about getting burned.
