Cyrus' first weapon was the Soul Eater, a sharp black dagger emitting an aura of darkness as a sign of the element of darkness. The element of darkness is a taboo element in Pixma's world and darkness symbolizes evil.
The soul eater was a cursed weapon, one that had the soul and consciousness to choose its own master. If a soul-creating being attempts to conquer it by force, it can lose its soul.
